1st of all we are grateful that our fellow Gopalgonj missionaries returned safely home from their extended travels after Fellowship in Raj. As they neared home the road had trees felled to block traffic as they had come upon political protesting.. they were advised to follow some military personnel who guided them around the 3 km line of stopped buses and trucks, which they did and arrived home only an hour later than expected, safe and sound. Their town was trashed and a curfew put in order thru this evening to get things under control..
Here at our Khulna home today,
Tried making a 1/2 batch of dill pickles! Something I’ve been hankering after these last 5 months but missing an important ingredient and just finding the time and then cucumbers.. for sure not huge yellow ones..became unavailable locally here. So while in Dhaka, I picked up a bag of nice 3-7” cucumbers and today used the Mrs Wages mix Mom K had sent. I’m so excited🤗 another thing that has fueled this dill pickle hankering is that jars of small yummy looking pickles are readily available! But their taste is always disappointing! They are called gherkins and would be more down the line of a sweet pickle..
Got some chicken marinating that Lonnie grilled for me. Otherwise he worked on book work all day again.
And made a 4 loaf batch of banana bread.
After lunch we made a run into Khulna for fruits and veggies. Came home with 13 kg of mangos along with the other produce bought…🥭 It’s mango season in Bangladesh! 🥭 🤗 the varieties today were fagli and and barifor? (haven’t quite wrapped my brain around what they are actually saying🧐)
✨ Our new family on the field (Dhaka replacements) arrive in Dhaka tomorrow evening!
